About Onnivera

Onnivera at workOnnivera at workI originally came from Manila, The Philippines and was born and raised there by my parents and their brothers and sisters. I studied elementary and high school at the San Sebastian College and took a bachelor’s degree in Public Health at the University of the Philippines in Manila and Diliman, Quezon City. Seven years after finishing my bachelor’s degree, I took a master’s degree also in Public Health from the same university. I worked afterwards with the Department of Science and Technology of the government of the Philippines at the same time I was teaching at the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology of the Manila Central University in Santa Cruz district, Manila.

I came to Canada in April 1991 with my parents who were sponsored by my brother. I wasn’t able to use my public health background here and I worked odd jobs until I got a training as a PC repair technician from Patal Vocational Preparatory Schools. After more than three years at a second hand computer store, I took upgrading classes for a Local Area Network Administration diploma from the CDI College of Business & Technology. Then I worked for a year at Convergys Inc. and another at SR&J Customer Care Call Centre and then another at NRG Research Group, Inc. These last three jobs were all call centre experiences for me although at the last one I was system administrator for a network of more than 250 laptops and computers.

Right now I am a free-lancer doing technical repairs of computers and networks for friends and referrals. I am also busy nowadays maintaining my website and three blogs at different blogsites. During my free time, I hang out at the food court of Portage Place mall here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with my senior friends. All I could say is I’m happy with the way things are in my life right now and I accept everything that comes my way because I believe that God sent them my way and there’s a special reason why I meet people and strangers who stop by to talk about interesting subjects. That’s also my personal philosophy on the net and I maintain a long list of friends that I’ve gotten to know through chatrooms and introductions from them. My favourite saying is “There is nothing insurmountable to one who sets his mind to it.”
